Grossman Gräshoppa floor lamp

I am thinking of making a feature all about lights, I am slowly starting to think that maybe it’s not that I have a manic obsession with lighting, but there are so many amazing lighting designs at the moment that I have to have them all! Today’s light is actually a bit of an icon. Designed by Greta Grossman in the late 40’s, the Gräshoppa floor lamp or Cobra lamp became famous when it won the Good Design Award in 1950. Ever since it has been at the top of iconic floor lamp choice, the steel tripod stand and cone shade give it it’s name Cobra. It is minimalist and delicate, I think it is a bit of a statement on it’s own. Sometimes design needs to speak for itself, it can sit in the background and be a little bland to some but good design will always stand out. This is definitely one of those objects that can stand out in a room full of furniture and trinkets and be the bell of the ball! You can buy it at Gubi who are famous for their designer products, so check out their other stuff as well!
