Ercol Sofa
My sister and her boyfriend are beginning to search for their first house, pretty scary especially when he is a design nut and she...well if she cover the house in pictures of Audrey Hepburn it wouldn't go a miss! They have procured an Ercol Sofa, my sister isn't so sure, he is completely loving it! So this post is aimed at her to made her see this brilliant design classic in a new light.
In 1920, Lucian Ercolai set up his own little furniture factory, specialising in steam bending wood. This is what makes the sofa so unique, a little bit of history sitting right in your living room. Wood can be stained in different colours, and the cushions you can customise yourself. So my dearest sister the moral of the story is...if you don't want it I do!!

Orla Kiely Planter
Happy Mother's day!
For all of you mummies, mummies to be or like me mummy to a pet today is the day to treat yourself...and buy something pretty! I want to share with you what I bought my wonderful mum (and she didn't even make me write that!) In our kitchen we have a cute little window sill that always has a little pot plant ...most of the time dead but it's still there! I wanted to get a new pot to go there and had a hunt for something pretty. I settled on this adorable little Orla Kiely planter, I'm not a massive fan of her work but this was just too cute to pass up. Coming in small medium and large, and in orange, green and grey, they can fit any home, any size. I went for the little orange number and luckily she loves it! It is now sitting proudly on our window sill! You can buy them at Heal's starting at just £13! Have a good day!

Wild & Wolf, Trim Phone
Yesterday, me and my Mum watched some seriously 80's music programme called The Tube. It's basically Top of the Pops...but a lot lot cooler and with a lot bigger hair! But me being me, I wasn't excited when a very young U2 showed up or an even younger Jools Holland presented the whole thing,...but because I really liked their phone. Yep - Their phone, I have seen them before but it reminded me of this amazing design that I just love! It is a massive design classic first appearing in 1970, and was the first phone to ring using an electronic warbler rather than the then standard traditional bell.
The Trim Phone is now produced by Wild & Wolf, the biggest players in the product design biz at the minute. I love their selection, the phone comes in purple, green, white, red, turquoise and orange! Although they all look pretty similar I am particularly partial to the Orange...which is strange because I don't like orange - that much. These phones would look fine in any home, and with their range of colours can blend in with any scenery. Wild & Wolf do a huggge range of products, and no doubt they will now become one of my first port of calls for cool stuff, so check them out!

Design Museum Designs of the Year 2012
Don't you just hate it when you see a really awesome gig, exhibition or event and it's not in your area, or even your country! This is a constant issue with me and Moma...they just taunt me with their amazing range of exhibitions. However, I am pleased to announce the coming of the Design Museums Designs of the Year 2012. I have been awaiting this for a while, full of a host of different design fields these awards pride themselves on finding the crème de la crème of design for this year.
With categories in Architecture, Digital, Fashion, Furniture, Graphics, Product and Transport (Phew!) every possible area is covered! I have picked a few of the entrants from Furniture (Balsa Furniture, Kihyun Kim) Architecture (David Chipperfield Architects) and Products (Ascent, Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby.) All of the entrants this year are looking amazing so check out all of them here, and if you around London town, the exhibition is on now and finished on the 8th July with the winners being announced on April 24th.

Luzelle Van Der Westhuizen
That song has literally been in my head all morning. This morning I have been on the hunt for my favourite things, Prints! And I have found a right stonker in the name of Luzelle Van Der Westhuizen...yeah a bit of a mouthful. I just love these prints, they are so vibrant in colour and the illustration style is really cute. They are the sort of thing that if I had them in my home, would make me smile every time I passed them. They would look adorable in a kids room too! The prints here are all silk screen print and are pretty reasonable at £35. Oooo plus it comes in cushion form...Swooon! Check out the website, Mengsel for all her work.

Mr Jason Grant
You might remember a few days ago I posted about a paint company called Murobond, since then I found them I can't get enough of their classy collections, but have now discovered Mr Jason Grant. He has a collection with Murobond, but on a bit of investigating his work is really beautiful and colourful. I have chosen some of my favourite example across his three ranges, Grayscale Garden, Road Trip and Welcome to my wonderland, all different and all pretty stunning. My personal Favourite is Greyscale garden, his latest collection full of moody sultry greys with one single bright mustard yellow, it just blossoms character! Here is his website - which I thoroughly recommend - and here is his work with Murobond!

Viaduct
First up is this stunning coffee table/tea tray/space age side table, coming in steel, copper and brass it can fit any style and comes in different heights! I love how futuristic it looks, yet is inspired by an oriental tea service! Next is this completely batty light. I mean where to start? Crazy branch like wires, modernist lamp shades giving off a spotlight effect, it's all going off and it completely works. Instead of a chandelier this would seriously grab peoples attention. Check out all their stuff here it's worth a visit!
